Password Guidelines

  • A-Z, a-z, 0-9, no spaces, 6-15 characters, MUST contain at least one number.
  • When selecting a password for the first time or changing it after it is reset, do not use a variation of the password.
  • A password must not be easily guessed. For example, it should not be set to all or part of your name, to any word found in a dictionary or to a word or number that can be tied to the user (e.g., SSN, phone number, birth date, or a relative's name, etc.).
  • Do not give out your password to anyone.
  • Memorize passwords. If passwords are written on a piece of paper, keep it in a secure location. Do not store or display where others may find it (e.g., taped to the monitor, etc.).
  • Immediately change compromised passwords.
  • Users should log off of the system when usage is complete or when leaving for the day.
